CSSD 2009 "Performer Of The Year"

IS MEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! BAAAHHHHHH!! 5 years in the making baby! I was so touched by David Henry's words before he announced the winner at our Holiday Party on Sunday. My voice cracked when I got up there to say "THANK YOU" to my teammates for believing in me that much. Everyone's (well almost everyone - refer to my previous post about bitter/negative people) congratulatory and thoughtful words to me afterwards was all the "Christmas" I could've asked for. Screw the materialistic stuff - this is what I live for - why I started dancing anyways. THE FEELING. THE TRANSFER OF INSPIRATION THRU ART. Its such a priceless, GOD given GIFT. AMAZING <3...

I set out to one day win this award since my first year on Culture Shock back in 2004!! Jazmyne & Julie each won 2 years in a row. I wanted it & I promised myself that I would get there one day. Not to say that I am "there" or perfect just because I actually won. I wanted it because that meant I had improved. It meant that I truly put my time, sweat & work in for the love of my craft & that "Yes" I was recognized for it. More importantly that I was recognized BECAUSE I had inspired. I wanted to be like Jazmyne, Julie, Sammie, Samath, Rainen, Sherman, Anna etc... because when I saw these people dance, they MOVED ME. I wanted to be able to do that for someone. Just one person if anything. To move someone so emotionally it made me crazy & want to jump up and work harder than I've ever worked before. You know what I'm saying??
They say "Money Can't Buy You Love"... this also applies.

Its the best feeling to be able to look up on my mantle and see "2004 Most Improved - Lovelyn Layug" then right next to it is "2009 Performer of The Year -Lovelyn Layug". (insert warm fuzzies). oooooohhhh 2010 - LET'S GOOOO!!
